Sanjukta, a very popular face on Indian Television have been applauded for her remarkable performance in the character of the Mother Godess 'Ma Durga' on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya on Indian Television since 1994.Sanjukta is a graded artist of the Indian Doordarshan and also the Cultural Depatment, Government of India. She has gained wide acclaims from press and public for her various Choreographies based on different compositions of Rabindranath Tagore-songs, poetry, poetic drama and also dance dramas with her subtle acting ability. She is one of the upcoming names in the field of Mohiniyattam, a rarely practiced dance form and is currently pursuing research on Dance in York University, Toronto,Canada.
Sanjukta was initiated into dancing at a very
tender age of 3. Kathak was her field of study for next five years and she completed her diploma certification from Chandigarh University.But her main interest was in Bharatanatyam and she found her dream of learning the dance style under the rigorous training of Guru Dr.Thankamani Kutty, a reputed disciple of Guru Chinnammu Amma of Kerala Kalamandalam. Sanjukta was introduced to Mohiniyattam by her Guru who nurtured the style in her. Later,Sanjukta also learnt Kathakali from the great Kathakali maestro Late Guru P. Govindan Kutty, for special attention on Hastas and Abhinaya. She has also attended extensive workshops and lecture demonstrations under Bharati Shivaji, Chitra Vishwesharan & Dr. Kanak Rele.
She is a post graduate in English Literature from University of Calcutta, India and also holds degree in Interior Designing (YWCA) and Painting from Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Art and Culture, Calcutta.
